Why Haven’t I Heard Back Yet? Understanding Our 48–72 Hour Response Time

Your Case Matters to Us and We Appreciate Your Patience

When you have an immigration case, it is completely understandable to want answers as quickly as possible. Waiting for a response from your attorney can be frustrating, especially when you are concerned about your case or waiting for an important update.

At Delgado Law Firm, PLLC, we want our clients to understand that a delay in receiving a response does not mean your case has been forgotten or that work is not being done.

Our attorney and legal team handle many cases at the same time, and each case requires careful attention, preparation, communication, and follow-up. We also receive a high volume of phone calls, emails, USCIS notices, and case updates every day.

For this reason, we ask our clients to please allow our office 48-72 hours to respond to voicemails and emails.

Why Does It take Time to Respond?

Not every client question can be answered immediately.

Some questions may require our legal team or attorney to:

• Review your individual case file

• Review documents or notices you have received.

• Research current immigration laws or procedure

• Review the status of your case

• Communicate with USCIS or another government agency

• Discuss your questions with the attorney handling your case

• Determine whether your question requires legal advice or additional action

We do not want to provide a rushed or incomplete answer simply because a client needs a response quickly. Our goal is to provide accurate information based on your individual case.

We Are Handling Many Cases Every Day

Immigration cases involve many different steps and responsibilities. While one client may be waiting for a response, our team may also be:

• Preparing and filing immigration applications

• Reviewing evidence and supporting documents

• Responding to USCIS requests.

• Preparing clients for interviews.

• Communicating with government agencies

• Monitoring case updates

• Preparing legal correspondence

• Working on urgent client matters

• Meeting with clients and prospective clients

Every client and every case is important to us. However, handling cases properly takes time and attention.

We ask for your patience while our team works to give your case the attention it deserves.

What Does 48-72 Hours Mean?

Our goal is to respond to client voicemails and emails within 48-72 hours via email or text message.

Please remember that receiving a response within this timeframe does not necessarily mean that your question will be completely resolved immediately.

If your question requires an attorney to review your file, research an issue, review documents, or communicate with USCIS, it may take additional time to provide you with a complete answer.

We would rather take the necessary time to properly review your situation than give you an incomplete or inaccurate answer.

Before Calling or Emailing, Check Your Welcome Packet

When you become a client of Delgado Law Firm, PLLC, our office provides information and resources designed to help you understand your case and answer many common questions.

Before calling or emailing about a general question, we encourage you to first review your Welcome Packet and the resources provided by our office.

Our Welcome Packet and other resources may help answer questions about things such as:

• Your case process.

• Important documents.

• General case procedures.

• What to expect during different stages of your case.

• Information you may need to provide to our office.

• Common questions about your immigration.

Taking a few minutes to review these resources first can often help you find an answer faster and allows our team to spend more time working directly on client cases.

Please Allow Us Time to Respond

If you have already left a voicemail or sent an email, please allow our office time to respond before contacting us repeatedly about the same question.

Multiple calls, voicemails, and emails about the same issue can create duplicate messages and make it more difficult for our staff to efficiently work through the volume of communications we receive.

If you have sent us a message, your communication has not necessarily been overlooked simply because you have not received an immediate response.

Please give our team 48-72 hours to get back to you through text or email.

What About USCIS Processing Times?

It is also important to remember that our response time and USCIS processing time are two completely different things.

Our office may be able to answer your question quickly, but we cannot how quickly USCIS processes an application or makes a decision.

Depending on the type of case, USCIS processing can taker months or, in some situations, even longer. Delays may occur because of agency workload, case backlogs, background checks, interviews, requests for additional evidence, or other factors.

Therefore, not receiving a USCIS update does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your case.

Likewise, not hearing from our office immediately does not mean that your case is being ignored.

When Should You Contact Our Office?

We absolutely want our clients to contact us when something important happens that could affect their case.

Please contact our office if you receive a notice or communication from USCIS or another immigration agency that you do not understand, receive an interview or biometrics notice, receive a request for evidence or other important notice, or experience a significant change in circumstances that could affect your case.

if you are unsure whether if something is important, it is better to contact our office and explain what happened.

For general questions, however, please first review the resources provided to you and allow our team 48-72 hours to respond to your voicemail or email.

We Appreciate Your Patience

We understand that your immigration case is important to you and your family. It is important to us as well.

Our attorney and legal team are working behind the scenes every day to move cases forward, prepare legal documents, respond to government requests, monitor cases and assist our clients.

You may not always see everything that is happening behind the scenes, but that does not mean nothing is happening with your case.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation as our team works to provide every client with the attention and legal service they deserve.
